[MUST READ] Niche Suggestion Keyword Competiton

Hello Fellow Marketers!

I hope you have been getting some inspiration from Niche
Suggestions!  I have had a few questions regarding the
competition level for the specific keywords in NS. I
thought it a good idea to share my response with everyone.

The best thing to do is use the keywords from Niche
Suggestions as, well, suggestions.  You have a product,
and a search count for the specific keyword.  If you see
some good stuff in Amazon, questions/issues in Yahoo,
information in Delicious, etc., then this may be something
to pursue.  If competition seems to high for the exact
keyword NS gave you, your best bet is to look for
alternative keywords.  The Google keyword tool is great for
this, and free:

I personally use Market Samurai which has some awesome
features to judge competition.  They have a 7-day free
trial if you want to check it out:

When judging competition, though, there is more to look at
then search count alone.  Not all of these pages will be
properly optimized for the keyword you put in.  A quick
check is to see which pages have the keyword in the page
title, or in the url.  Also, see what sites have backlinks
to them with your keyword - this is a good indicator of the
marketing activity.  Try this to get a better sense of the
results in Google:

allintitle: <your keyword>
allinurl: <your keyword>
inanchor: <your keyword>

searching for "cheese wheel"
95,000

allintitle: "cheese wheel"
9,500 results

allinurl: "cheese wheel"
5,890 results

inanchor: "cheese wheel"
40 results

Market Samurai does all this on multiple keywords, but the
free tool (Google) works just as well if you have the time.
For free, the 7-day Market Samurai trial is hard to beat.

Please send me any questions you have, and I'll do my best
to answer everyone.

Regards, and best success,
