Dear Indra,

Over twenty thousand children currently work in Malian artisanal gold mines under extremely harsh and dangerous conditions. We cannot allow this human rights travesty to continue.

Children from the ages of 6-17 are being forced to use toxic mercury to excavate gold from large pits that they themselves dig. These children work deep underground, carrying and crushing heavy ore, and are often paid in bags of dirt that may or may not contain tiny bits of gold.

The Malian government has chosen to deny the existence of said child exploitation, despite recent reports proving otherwise. They can't keep ignoring this clear violation of human rights law.

Write to the Mali government and demand they put an end to child labor immediately.
