Dear Indra,

In restaurants in Japan, animals like frogs, fish, and octopi are cut to pieces and skinned alive before diners consume them. Some of the animals even watch, blinking, as parts of their own bodies are eaten.

Others just flop helplessly, their hearts beating and limbs flopping, forced to endure a slow, painful death.

This seafood technique is supposedly used to give diners the "freshest" sashimi possible. But no culinary curiosity is worth skinning and eating an animal while it is still barely alive.

It is high time that this cruel practice came to an end. Urge Japan's ambassador to the United States, Kenichiro Sasae, to take action to end this inhumane delicacy in his country.
