Despite an international ban on whale hunting, Iceland plans to slaughter 180 of its fin whales this year.
Dear Indra,
Whales are beautiful, intelligent creatures that are capable of great compassion. They live in family groups, sing songs to communicate, and mourn their dead. But in Iceland, they're being murdered by the hundreds to make dog treats.
Iceland continues to hunt endangered fin whales in defiance of an international ban, and exports most of its whale meat to Japan. This year, Iceland plans to slaughter 180 of its whales.
A recent joint statement by investigative groups stated that Iceland plans to use some of their whale meat in luxury dog treats.
Using endangered whale meat in dog treats and similar items is an inexcusable waste of life. Sign the petition to ask Iceland to stop this slaughter immediately.
