| action alert! A few endangered animals in China enjoy some legal protection, but the majority of animals are not covered by any animal welfare laws. This means it's completely legal to abuse and kill defenseless animals. Dear Indra,
Recently, a dolphin died of excessive bleeding after tourists in China pulled it out of the water because they wanted to pose for pictures with it. This senseless, selfish act of animal abuse went completely unpunished because the tourists had not broken any laws. Please help stop this abuse by urging the Chinese government to legally protect non-endangered animals.
Because China currently has no laws to protect non-endangered animals, people can exploit and abuse them without consequences. Horrifying stories have been heard of wild animals tortured and killed to make ineffective medicines or exotic culinary dishes, zoo animals made to perform in dangerous, unnatural ways, and small pets sold as novelty keychains in mall kiosks.
Something must be done to end this abuse. Please tell Chinese officials to create legislation to protect non-endangered animals. | Thank you for taking action,
