Dear Indra,

If you're like me, you might walk through zoos and pet stores and just feel sad for the animals, and wonder what they've gone through in order to be put in cages for human entertainment. Well imagine walking through a market that holds endangered species like sun bears, pangolins and orangutans in makeshift cages. Unfortunately, this horrible place exists.

Despite trade in endangered animals being illegal in Indonesia, it's rare for someone to be punished for it. That's why this wildlife market has been allowed to stay open for three years, and the owner is seen as untouchable.

The market is stocked by poachers, who travel to rainforests on roads cut when an area is cleared. They take animals from their families to sell them, or kill them for their body parts. At this market in Sumatra, some animals will die from neglect if they are not sold.

Please stand with Care2 member Jan, who created a petition to stop this horrific wildlife market from continuing to sell. Please sign the petition today.
