From August to October, hairy crabs are all the rage in China. In an attempt to capitalize on the crab frenzy, crab shop owners in Hangzhou have opened self-service vending machines full of live hairy crabs for after-hours sales.
Subjecting crabs to a vending machine holding cell until they become dinner is cruel. Urge China to shut down all vending machines with live crabs!
The vending machines have become more of a marketing stunt than a sales tool, with people ogling the crabs without buying them. This ploy has resulted in a high mortality rate for the crabs and a huge amount of food waste.
These crab vending machines are a ridiculous stunt that unnecessarily punishes crabs. Sign the petition: Stop crabs from being stuffed into vending machines in China!
