Both tomato growers and buyers in the US have taken significant steps to ensure that workers gathering their crops are not victims of modern slavery. Why hasn't Wendy's joined the effort?
Dear Indra,
In the past, tomato field growers in Florida have been caught running slavery-like operations, from using forced child labor, to regular beatings, trafficking, and sexual harassment. Today, 90% of growers have joined the Fair Food Program to ensure that this kind of modern slavery is no longer found in their tomato fields.
Wendy's is the last remaining major fast-food company to join the Fair Food Program. Join us in asking Wendy's to help abolish modern slavery.
By joining, Wendy's will see to it that its suppliers are treating their tomato field workers with dignity, not like second-rate human beings. Its immense purchasing power could help bring the last 10% of farms to the table and ensure the tomato industry never sees another case of modern slavery.
Tell Wendy's to take a stand against modern slavery and join the Fair Food Program.
