Target has promised to stop using slave-picked cotton from Uzbekistan, but their words are meaningless without action. They need to sign the Daewoo Protocol to really make a change.

Dear Indra,

In the country of Uzbekistan, slavery still exists. Every year, the government tears children and adults from school or work to pick cotton. They are forced to work all day for little or no pay, and they are beaten and tortured for not making quotas. Help us end this horrible practice.

Daewoo International accounts for approximately 20% of all cotton processed in Uzbekistan. Several companies have signed the Daewoo Protocol - declining to do business with Daewoo until it takes serious steps to stop sourcing slave-picked Uzbek cotton.

Target has pledged to not use cotton from Daewoo International, but the company's words are meaningless until it signs the Daewoo Protocol. Encourage Target to turn its words into action and sign the Daewoo Protocol.

Slavery is a gruesome reality in Uzbekistan, and it demands real action from a company with enormous buying power like Target. With all its money and resources, Target should not be sourcing materials produced with this kind of inhumane treatment.

Please add your voice today. Ask Target to help eliminate modern slavery in Uzbekistan.
