The European Union has no business trading with China, a country with a terrible human rights record and non-existent animal welfare laws.

Dear Indra,

More often than not, China has been the subject of reports about serious human rights and animal rights violations. We need to put pressure on the Chinese government to create better laws to protect all of its citizens and its animals.

The Chinese government censors all public discourse, from newspaper articles to online exchanges. While Chinese citizens can use a Twitter-like service, Weibo, the Communist government blocks out all mention of politically sensitive topics.

While it's the case that more Chinese people are keeping dogs and other animals as well-loved pets, it's not at all uncommon for cats and monkeys to be kept in cages outside restaurants where they will be cooked and eaten.

China needs to start educating its children and dispel long-standing superstitions about animals.

Clearly, China needs to hear that the rest of the world has had enough of it trampling on the rights of its people and of its hideous treatment of animals. Demand the EU impose sanctions against the Chinese g overnment now.
