Dear Indra,

Right now is the worst time for Florida's tomato pickers. The days are hot and there's tremendous pressure on growers to turn a profit, making conditions ripe for worker exploitation. Florida's tomato farms, which supply 50% of all U.S. fresh tomatoes, have been called 'ground zero for slavery.'

Take a stand against slavery in the U.S. tomato industry.

The Fair Food Program would prevent slavery on tomato farms, but Publix Super Markets, a major supermarket chain, refuses to support it. They continue to buy tomatoes from growers whose workers toil beyond the reach of the Fair Food Program's protection.

The United States often casts the blame for modern slavery on other countries, but this problem persists in all countries, and it will take collective action from the world's citizens to end it.

Tell Publix to make the right decision. Urge them to fight modern slavery in the U.S. tomato industry.
