Dear Indra,
Durga Mala was orphaned at 8. Soon afterwards, she was sold into slavery by a grandmother who lacked the means to feed her and her three older sisters. For years, Durga endured grueling, non-stop labor, often subjected to extreme cruelty and severe physical abuse, before finally being rescued by the police.
At age 12, Durga's life as a slave is behind her, and she is participating in the trial against her captors. Unfortunately, millions of child slaves in India will not be so fortunate.
Please sign the petition to help end child slavery in India today.
Truly abolishing slavery means more than just cracking down on known traffickers -- it means preventing enslavement in the first place. The Delhi Private Placement Agency (Regulation) Bill would be an important start, creating much-needed governmental oversight in an industry infamous for its human trafficking. Please show your support for this bill!
