Dear Indra,
Just moments after the new president of Central African Republic congratulated a crowd of soldiers on their professionalism, several of the soldiers turned on a bystander and murdered him in front of journalists. The soldiers accused him of helping the ousted rebel movement – and before the man could defend himself, the mob stripped him to his underwear, then beat him with bricks, stabbed him to death, and dragged his body through the streets before setting his corpse on fire.
The soldiers responsible for this hate crime need to be disciplined. Sign the petition now to demand that the government in Central African Republic bring these soldiers to justice for lynching an innocent man.
Far from professional, the soldiers who attacked his man were contributing to a rash of ethnic cleansing in Central African Republic. This is the third such lynching in three weeks. The man who was killed was believed to be a Muslim, just one of the many who are being tortured and killed for suspected relations to the Seleka.
The UN and world leaders are calling for justice for the atrocities committed by these soldiers. It's up to the new president to show that the country's military is working to establish peace and stability, not murder innocent civilians. Add your name to the petition demanding that Central African Republic's new president discipline the soldiers involved immediately.
