During bullfights, animals are usually brutally stabbed to death by matadors and left to die in agony and fear in the ring. It's definitely not appropriate programming for children.

Dear Indra,

Bullfighting is a brutal, bloody sport. Not only are the "matadors," tasked with fighting and killing the bull, at dire risk of being gored to death -- the bulls themselves are usually stabbed and left to bleed out in agony and fear in the middle of the ring. There's no reason this cruelty should be airing on television, especially when children are likely to be watching.

The government of Spain has approved bullfighting to be shown on national broadcast television during family viewing hours. After the broadcaster showed scenes from a bullfight in September, a group of opposition parties were attempting to ban the practice to protect kids from the scenes of animal violence.

But no dice -- the government has given the broadcaster its blessing to show the elongate d torture scenes, which can involve waiting 20 minutes for a bull to slowly bleed to death.

No one should be exposed to this much abuse on television, but especially not children. Tell the Spanish government to ban televised bullfighting during children's typical viewing hours!
